"Chocolate" by Max

"Chocolate" by Max Changmin Max & U-Know I've gotta be straight up with you about this one.  In the summer of 2019 I spent six magnificent weeks in Seoul, South Korea on a study abroad trip and it changed my entire life.  One thing that it changed was the fact that I became aware that for the last 11/12 years of my K-Pop obsession I have been SLEEPING on TVXQ!.   Being a veteran of K-Pop, around in the early days of Super Junior and the debut of SHINee, I somehow overlooked TVXQ!.   TVXQ! or DBSK! stands for 동방신기 which literally translates to "Rising Gods of the East."  They debuted in 2003 with five members:  U-Know Yunho, Micky Yoochun, Hero Jaejoong, Xiah Junsu, and Max Changmin.  Their major hit song was in 2009 (roughly the year I got into K-Pop) and was called "Mirotic."   If you know anything about 2nd Generation K-pop, you know that this song was ICONIC and defined the generation.  It was scandalous and sexual in a way that other songs had

"Candy" by Baekhyun

"Candy" by Baekhyun "Candy" by Baekhyun I gotta be real with you.  When I first heard the song, I didn't like it.  I was SO EXCITED about this comeback because UN Village slapped and made me feel things that I didn't know I could feel.  It was... hot.  And that's being tame.  So, of course, I was ready for Baekhyun to ruin my life with yet ANOTHER perfect song.  I wasn't a huge fan of the styling in the comeback teasers but I was willing to look over it because I knew that Baekhyun would deliver.  He always does, after all.  I really tried to be excited, I really did.  But from the teaser pictures and the sample, I didn't exactly have a good impression of the song.  So when it came out I avoided it for like a week.  Maybe two.  Let me tell you, I was really disappointed with the song overall because there was SOMETHING missing.  That classic Baekhyun thing was missing.  You know, it's that special something he brings to every single solo song

"Jopping" by SuperM SuperM - Group under SM Entertainment Debut: October 3rd From left to right: Lucas, Mark, Taetong, Taemin, Kai, Baekhyun, Ten Okay, for this one let me just start off with AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that I've got the fangirling out of the way, let's get into what exactly has me losing my mind.  This one is probably going to be long and disorganized as hell, so sorry in advance for that. A few weeks ago, SM Entertainment announced that they were putting together a supergroup containing seven members of pre-existing groups, those being NCT, SHINee, and EXO.  From NCT and WayV we have Lucas, Taeyong, Ten and Mark (give him a break, omg).  From SHINee, there is the only member who is not currently serving in the military, Taemin.  From EXO we have Baekhyun and Kai.  On October 3rd at 11:02pm CST, the premiere of their deb

Introduction-What happened? Why K-Pop?

Introduction-What Happened? Why K-Pop?      Almost ten years ago, somewhere between the ages of 11 and 12, I did something that would change the course of my entire life.   "Ring Ding Dong" by SHINee (2009) I went to a friends house one day for a sleepover and we ran up to their room and they showed me  something called "Super Junior" and "Girls' Generation" and "SHINee" and "TVXQ!".   Of course, I can't forget to mention G-Dragon and Big Bang.  My friends and I thought it was hilarious.  Their English pronunciation was funny, some of their Korean lyrics  sounded funny, the styling was hot at the time in the industry but we had never seen anything like it before so we thought it was so funny.  Nothing was safe.  The clothes, the words, the dances, the (frankly) terrible acting.  You name it, my friends and I probably made fun of it.  As funny as it was, I thought the songs were kind of cool and I liked the way the
